History of The School
The school began in 1991
in small premises on Main Road, Blackwood, South Australia, soon
outgrowing this, it moved to its current location at 20 Coromandel
Parade, Blackwood. In May 2006, the current owner, Richard Squires,
set about refurbishing the premises and expanding the services
offered, to include: instrument and vocal tuition, retail sales and
hire of
musical instruments, equipment, & tutorials, group workshops, song
writing & recording classes.
As well as tuition at the
Music School, with 15 teachers, and over 240 students, it also
supplies tuition & hire services to local schools.

Australian business, catering for all the musical requirements of the
local community.
Richard has over 30years
experience worldwide in the music business, predominantly in
performance, & tuition of saxophone, and is driven by his passion for
guiding aspiring talent.
Born in England in the
Golden era of Rock & Roll, Richard Squires began his musical life at
the age of 6, learning theory, along with violin, piano & guitar.
After a few years of experimentation with these instruments, he
ventured into long pants and discovered the Saxophone. Since that
time, he has never been far away from one of their family members.
From the lounge room, to the
garage, through the London club circuit of the 70s, to playing with,
and supporting many legends of the big stage including: Doctor Feelgood, Canned Heat, George Thoroughgood, Roy Bucchanan, The Angels,
John Swan, Glen Shorrock, Ross Wilson, Brian Cadd, Lisa Edwards, to
name but a few, the Saxophone has been his main tool of expression.
Having taught privately for
many years in between performing, Richard bought the Blackwood Music
School in April 2006, and set about rebuilding the business to
accommodate, Instrument / Equipment Sales & Hire, Music Workshops &
Song Writing & Performance Classes. He is totally focused on assisting
the local community with all their musical requirements, and when not
running the Blackwood Music School, still performs Nationally &
Internationally with Acoustic Juice & various other bands.
