encouraged him to study law and architecture, by that stage
Mike's abilities as a multi-instrumentalist, musical director
and prolific songwriter were blossoming. He went on to work as a
musician in numerous capacities in New York City, witnessing a
cultural revolution outside the safety of the four-room
apartment he shared with his mother and father on 116th Street
in East Harlem.
Mike left New York City to live and work in London, a move that
resulted in an opportunity to tour Europe and Australia when
selected for lead guitarist with the Shakin' Stevens Band. After
a brief return three years later to New York City, Mike was
offered a gig in Austin, Texas, 'The Live Music Capital of the
World', where he then made his new home. Over the next 13 years,
Mike honed his musical talents even more, integrating a host of
new influences into his musical style. |
